The hotel gives you complete privacy, and you don’t feel watched. The staff were patient, the food was decent and flavorful, and the pool was clean. The town gets lively at night, so it felt safe to go out. I stayed here for part of my honeymoon after coming from Jamaica 🇯🇲. You’re right in the middle of Boca Chica town Centre, near the beach, local shops, businesses, and supermarkets. Walking around, nobody knows you’re a tourist until someone speaks to you in Spanish, but at least you won’t get overcharged, lol. It’s also close to the airport. Have a look at the surrounding area and attractions before you come. I’d recommend the Hotel, 10/10!

I’ve stayed here twice because it’s a convenient distance from the airport for a departure. Hotel Agua Dulce is good value, with friendly Cuban owners, very clean rooms and grounds, and a simple breakfast included. They can also arrange a ride to the airport. The property feels secure, which mattered because the surrounding area isn’t great. Parking was the one problem for me. With a car, I had to leave it on the street, and the neighborhood made me nervous.

The rooms were clean, and the cleaning ladies and receptionist were nice to everyone. The man in charge, though, was completely ignorant and extremely rude. He has no manners and doesn’t know how to deal with people. I saw him get into a few altercations with other guests. The area is really loud, and it was hard to sleep. Parking is only on the street. Breakfast is free, but I’d rather go out and pay for a meal. The portions were small and tasteless, and the drinks were warm. Everything they sell there costs twice what you can get just a few minutes away. You can’t have your own food or drinks outside your room, bring a little speaker to the pool, or have guests over after 9 or 10 p.m. They’ll make you turn the speaker off. Construction in the room next door started at 7 a.m.; the jackhammer was so loud I could feel the vibrations.

The service and staff were good, but I don’t think the place was worth it, and I have no plans to return. After 17 years away, I came back to my country and booked seven days near my favorite beach. The first few days were great. On the morning of day four, I came back from the beach and opened the hotel gate. Their dog barked and tried to attack me at least twice, nearly biting me. The Cuban woman who also works reception came running over and said, “He’s just playing with you.” I told her I’d grown up around dogs all my life, and that wasn’t how they play, it’s how they act when threatened. But no big deal. The night before I left, I came back early hoping for a long night’s sleep, but there was a party, a “Quinceañera.” None of the hotel guests had been told about it. The owner showed up with the party, and we had to put up with loud Latin music, clapping, yelling, and kids playing until midnight. The next morning the place was a mess. The pool was dirty and full of balloons that kept popping in the hot Dominican sun.
