Guacamayos Hotel

We stayed at the hotel and ate at its little restaurant for both dinner and breakfast. It’s a pretty setting, and the service was excellent. We tried chinola, limonadas, and hot chocolate, along with chivo and linguini for dinner. Breakfast was oatmeal and the breakfast burger. Everything was pretty good, and we had a pleasant stay.

The pool and zoo are across the road as part of the complex, and the room price includes entry to both. I wasn't comfortable crossing because cars go very fast, though staff would stand in the road with their hands up to stop traffic. The sprawling property has lots of staff looking after it, and there are good event spaces, including for a wedding. Bonao doesn't have many decent places to stay, so Guacamayos Hotel is one of the better options. The hotel, restaurant, pool, and zoo are all part of what my rating covers. Some room decor looks cheap, like wrapping paper around the frames, and the shower needed better cleaning, including mold removal and a washable mat at the entrance. I also expected at least an on-call massage service, but they don't offer that yet. I'd come back with kids for a party, since they'd love the pool and zoo.

The food at Jabalí restaurant was amazing, and the wait staff were among the best I've met on my travels. Housekeepers also went out of their way to make the stay better. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and roomy. I'd stay here again.

My wife needed a meal that worked for her diet, and the staff found her a delicious soup even though it wasn't on the menu. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere welcoming. Guacamayos is a Bonao hidden gem, definitely worth a visit.
