Casa Blanca Hotel

We spent about a week at Casa Blanca with my wife and our two teen girls, and had a great time. It was a good price, and hosts William and Dorothy took good care of us. The hotel staff were very nice, too. We cooked a bit in the kitchen in our room and found a supermarket nearby for supplies. The beach is a quick walk away, with windsurfing and other water sports, which are a big reason to visit Cabarete. I’d recommend this modest option to anyone looking beyond the high end hotels.

The hotel was sold, and the new owners cut down most of the trees and plants, which was hard to deal with. I was under contract to stay for six months. The new owner first cut my maid service, then my propane, demanding that I fill a tank shared by five apartments, including his own. After that he cut the internet. He cursed at me many times and told me not to use the pool. He’s in over his head and doesn’t know how to run a hotel or deal with people.

Friendly hosts and staff, and the room rates are fair. My stay has been wonderful, with modest, clean accommodations. There’s a small pool area at the hotel, and it’s a 5-10 minute walk to the beach. The hotel restaurant is open from 9am-2pm, and there’s WiFi in the courtyard. Cafes, laundry, a supermarket, and restaurants are all a short walk away. I’d recommend it and would stay again.

The rat was a real delicacy, succulent and fried just right. I’d recommend this place to every single person I know. The country sucks, though.
