Watermark Luxury Oceanfront All Suite Hotel

The rooms are big and there’s a pool, terrace, and parking, but the place could be much nicer. We had a lot of annoying issues, and the response felt like they didn’t care about fixing them. The outside shower had no head, and the pool seemed to have no pump to filter the water, though it was functional. There was a jacuzzi, but I never saw it working. The door lock was half off, and we had to re-key our cards several times. The AC was stuck on in the master bedroom, though that was better than broken. The bathroom door wouldn’t shut because the latch had been painted closed. Cupboard doors stuck, so we could only use half the cupboard, and large valuables won’t fit in the safe. The patio doors leading to the terrace had been retrofitted with locks and weren’t secure at all. It was probably stunning when it opened, and by Dominican standards it’s very luxury, so I can see why they may be less bothered about fixing things. Just be aware it doesn’t quite look like the photos and wouldn’t count as 4 star by US/European standards.

The ocean views are amazing, and the service is excellent. Cabarete is still one of the DR’s best secrets. The rooms are spacious, large, and luxurious. Kite surfing fans will love that the hotel is at Kite Beach, with amazing balcony views of the kite surfers. 5 stars!

A lovely apartment in a really nice location. The AC in our bedrooms didn’t work, but fortunately the living room unit was powerful enough that we could leave the bedroom doors open. Apart from that, it was a great place.

Watermark is a nice place to stay, but we had a bad experience when the power went out only in our unit. There was no support at night, so I had to switch hotels in the middle of the night. That could be very dangerous. I’d think twice before staying, and I’m not sure you’d get your refund if something happened.
