Eco Del Mar

Bahía de las Águilas is right next door, and that incredible location was the best part of our stay. The staff were helpful, and porters took our luggage. There was plenty of seating, and we enjoyed the food and drinks at the bar. The campground is very remote, though, and getting there means a difficult drive on rough gravel roads with limited signs. Our tent was clean and comfortable, and the nights were cool, but there wasn’t much storage. The private outdoor bathrooms were basic, and the rocky path made trips there at night awkward. Wi-Fi worked in the shared areas but not in the tent. We also found the beach disappointing because of the sharp rocks and reef. It’s a distinctive stay if you’re up for the rustic setup, but expect a challenging drive and beach.

Bahía de las águilas was the reason we stayed, but we couldn’t get a boat trip because they gave priority to arriving cruise ships over hotel guests. We ended up taking a chance and driving there, even though we didn’t want to risk it with our rental car on that road. The beach itself is amazing, and the drinks were good. The restaurant was a letdown: there were hardly any choices, and whenever I asked for something from the menu, they didn’t have it. I was annoyed. Service was slow and inconsistent, and the rooms need to be cleaned better. The synthetic towels were no good at drying us, so I’d bring your own.

I had a great visit to Eco del Mar in May. The beach by the hotel was the best I’ve been to, and the staff were respectful and very friendly. The utensils, though, looked so old that they gave me the ick. They really should replace them.

The beach is amazing, and the service was excellent. This is the best place near Bahia de las Aguilas.
