Hotel Ibiza

We left and ate somewhere else after the receptionist insisted we pay the 6,500 peso minimum for our table of four before they’d seat us. That’s about $105 US. We’d come for the restaurant and had already said the minimum was fine, but paying in advance is really not normal in the Dominican Republic. The receptionist said, with a smug look, “We have to pay our waiters.” That attitude lost them our business, and this part of the island has very limited revenue opportunities. Horrible service. Stay away.

Poor service, rooms that urgently need maintenance, and menu prices that didn’t match what they charged, with taxes added too. Check your bill carefully. The whole experience was horrible.

We had grilled chicken, pasta, and drinks for lunch, and everything tasted great. The restaurant sits right by the beach, with the best view in town. I don’t speak Spanish, but the staff were patient and helpful while we got by using Google Translate. The service was even better than the setting. I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.
