Casita Playa Coson

We only stayed one night, and they gave us a whole house. We had both dinner and breakfast there, and dinner was the best meal we’ve had in the country. The place is so charming, and the beach is beautiful and uncrowded. The photos really don’t show it properly.

This was our favorite place among several stops on our two-week break in DR. It was just what we booked, with great service, privacy, and a laid-back feel. If you’re after a lovely spot to relax, this is it.

The views were stunning, the beach was tucked away and quiet, and everyone on staff was kind. The bartender was especially friendly and made delicious drinks. The restaurant was a little slow, though the food came out hot and fresh. I really liked the shrimp carbonara. The rooms felt very dated. My toilet seat was coming loose, there wasn’t an iron, and housekeeping came on our second day without telling us, then left the door open with our valuables inside. I had a nice weekend, but I’m not sure I’d stay again with the rooms in that condition.

The beach was beautiful and peaceful, and the drive up gave us a great first impression of Casa Cosón. The staff seemed friendly, there were warm waters, and some friendly dogs around, though it may not suit you if you don’t like dogs. The on-site masseuse was excellent too. Still, our family’s planned two-day stay ended after one night, and we got no refund. The villa was dirty and dated, with a strange smell and broken windows that seemed to let in bugs and even rats. One of my family members opened a closet to unpack and found a large rat inside. We were shocked and upset. When we told a staff member, he first denied it. We were eventually moved, but the replacement room was too small to comfortably fit all five of us. There was also a foul smell in the parking lot. The restaurant was just okay and felt overpriced. The rooms were the main problem and badly need renovation. The setting has potential, but as things stand, the stay didn’t meet our expectations.
