Adults Only Club at Lopesan Costa Bávaro - All Inclusive

José Sosa, who brought room service to our room on Oct 15, is one of Lopesan's best resort workers. Please give him a raise! We had a great time otherwise, but paying extra for “Adults Only” isn't worth it and feels like a marketing ploy. There's just one small adults-only pool, with no entertainment, and one adults-only restaurant that's really a section of the family restaurant. Both sections serve the same buffet food.

We had such an amazing time here. Fighter, Kerry big mama and Francisco were the best, both professional and fun!

Guests who don't speak Spanish seem to get ignored. People behind them in line are served first, and only about 2% of the staff in service and restaurants speak English. I couldn't make sense of how drinks are served at the bar either. Some people get lovely glass or plastic cups, while others get an ordinary disposable cup, even when they tip. And again, staff don't speak English. Housekeeping was poor. Our window was covered in streaks, there was mold in the shower, and they left dirty, stained towels for guests after cleaning. One day they didn't clean our room at all, even though we left tips regularly. I'm disappointed and pretty sure I wouldn't come back.

The adults-only pool was a real highlight, though its nearest towel station was a 7-8 minute walk each way. We suggested putting towel stations closer to every pool, but the staff member looked dismissive, as if feedback wasn't welcome. At the casino, roulette had a $25 minimum. We politely said that seemed high for this location, considering cruise ship casinos have $10 minimums and top hotels in Puerto Rico go as low as $2. The employee gave us a disapproving look instead of acknowledging what we said. The casino is small and seems aimed mostly at high rollers. The property itself is huge and beautiful, but poorly marked. It's easy to get lost or waste time finding your way, and guest orientation and signs should be a priority for a resort this size. Food was about a 7 out of 10 for me. The steakhouse was genuinely enjoyable, but other restaurants disappointed. The buffets lacked elegant presentation and the food wasn't displayed with the care or visual appeal I'd expect from a resort in this category. Our check-in set a poor tone. The staff member was noticeably cold, didn't offer any upgrade options, even paid ones, and spent about 10 minutes processing something without explaining what was going on. My wife eventually sat down while we waited in silence. We later realized he couldn't find our registration papers, but he never told us. They also didn't ask for a credit card at check-in, so we had to pay all room charges at checkout, making that process longer. Checkout was badly managed too. More than 20 guests were in line, only two staff were helping, and we waited around 30 minutes. Since incidental charges had to be settled there, the line moved even more slowly. Our transportation through the JetBlue Vacations package nearly left without us. The driver waited longer than usual and had to delay the rest of his route. We loved the adults-only pool, but otherwise I wouldn't return under normal circumstances. I'd only consider it as a last resort if there were no other options. A month earlier we stayed at Paradisus Palma Real, a much smaller property, and had a significantly better experience. The service there was outstanding, and Lopesan Costa Bávaro still has a long way to go.
