The wedding team were wonderful, and Nicaury helped us so much as our coordinator. Our ceremony was at the beautiful fountain gazebo. Rain forced us to move the reception indoors, but we still had a lovely time and appreciated how professionally the staff handled it. We had 46 guests for our wedding at dreams onyx, and it turned into a great day and week for everyone. We’ve stayed at two other Punta cana resorts, and Dreams Onyx is easily our favorite of the three. We picked this resort to keep guests entertained, and it worked well. Along with the usual resort amenities, there was a fun water park, nightly events in the lobby, a 24/7 coffee and gelato shop, and nightlife at the neighbouring adults only resort, breathless. The resort felt a good size. Walking everywhere was fine for me, though some people used the trolley. No wristbands or towel cards were needed, which I liked, and staff were accommodating when some guests needed room changes. Restaurants were first come first serve, which I prefer to reservations. As a foodie, I was surprised by how delicious the food was. I actually looked forward to trying the different restaurants and dishes. My only criticism is that I’m not sure the 'preferred club' was worth it. I’d expected more help from our butler based on a previous resort experience. It didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the stay.

We were here for a week in February 2026 with our family and kids, ages 6 and 10. The beach was lovely, and the ocean waves were fun to watch. During the day the flag was yellow, then red in the evening when swimming wasn’t allowed. Since we went after breakfast, often after 11:30 am, it could be hard to find a shaded beach chair if you weren’t Preferred. Getting beach and pool towels was easy, with no towel cards to keep track of. Housekeeping did a good job, sometimes cleaning our room twice a day. We enjoyed the buffet, but near closing they sometimes ran short of clean plates, kids’ cereal, and regular milk. At lunch and dinner it wasn’t always easy to find olive oil for pasta, and the kitchen staff had trouble understanding what we wanted. The buffet shrimp and lobster I tried were dry and bland, which was disappointing, but there were other tasty choices. We liked both Hibachi and French. Waitstaff were good, though getting a coffee refill took a long time, so I usually went to their station and got it myself. The kids liked some activities, including the slime event, dancing, and other evening events, but the kids club didn’t seem exciting to them and had no air conditioning. My son wanted to play basketball, but we couldn’t find anywhere besides the teens’ zone. That area looked empty, and a bowling competition was cancelled due to lack of participants. We loved the game room and paid $200 for the family for the whole stay, though cotton candy and the claw machine cost extra.

There’s plenty for different ages. We had fun with the pool, beach activities, volleyball, yoga, a dunk tank, and a huge inflatable mountain water slide. The water park was a blast. Young kids can go to Explorers Club, teens can hang out in the Core Zone, and the entertainment crew, Sharina, Vero, Honey Tere, and Lucinda, kept everyone busy. We even painted a lovely picture. The parades and shows were great, and adults can use the facilities at Breathless too. The grounds and beach were beautifully kept, and the whole resort was spotless. Bellman Junior was the first friendly face we met. We started each day with good coffee and friendly smiles at Cocco Cafe. Our two beds were comfortable, with a dressing area in the bathroom, and there were plenty of bath and beach towels. There were lots of dining choices without long waits. We had buffet breakfast, tacos from Taco Truck or lunch at Barfoot Grill, and dinner at Spice was our favorite, especially with gracious Graciela. We’ve visited Dreams Onyx several times and enjoyed it every time. It really is a Caribbean gem, and I can’t wait to go back.

Our private pool room included the “preferred package,” and I didn’t expect that status to make much difference, but it did. Pool servers regularly brought drink refills, we were looked after as soon as we arrived from the airport, and our butler would text and find us during the day to check if we needed anything. He handled restaurant reservations, taxis, activities, housekeeping, and anything else we asked. Juan David was phenomenal, with a genuine smile, and he was kind and respectful all week. We’d come back just for him. This was our second stay at a Dreams Resort, and we had a really enjoyable time. The only downside was the food. It was good, but not great, and we actually preferred the buffet to the à la carte restaurants. For the luxury offered, the resort is a good value. We’d return without hesitation, and met several people who come back every year.

Our group of 16 ranged from 8 to 77, and we all had an incredible time. The rooms in building 7 were fantastic and always cleaned well. The kids loved the water park and beach, while the adults were happy at the Preferred adult pool. Most of the staff were fun and friendly, and our butler Starling was outstanding. Food was average, though the breakfast crepes and omelettes were the buffet highlights, and everyone loved the French restaurant. We absolutely loved our stay.
