What stood out most was how welcome and cared for I felt. I’ve traveled a lot and stayed in plenty of places, but nowhere has made me feel this genuinely at home. Jorge spent hours talking with me, and Angelica was just as kind. With many places closed for the holidays, she still did what she could to help me find food and feel comfortable. The rooms were very clean, and the hostel was quiet enough for a good night’s sleep. Macao itself is fantastic, relaxed, not too touristy, and home to an incredible beach. Hostal Johnnier is a special place, and I’d stay again without hesitation.

The relaxed, welcoming atmosphere made it easy to chat with other guests, and the simple rooms were clean and comfortable. It’s an affordable spot near Macao Beach for travelers who want a local stay instead of a big resort. Don George, the manager, was a highlight. He was kind and helpful, whether recommending local restaurants, arranging transport, or just having a friendly conversation. He really made us feel at home. Hostal Johnnier Macao captures a lot of Dominican hospitality, and I’d recommend it if you want a warm base while exploring Punta Cana.
