White Sands Bed & Breakfast

Don't be taken in by the hostel label. This place doesn't feel like a hostel at all. The bathroom is cramped and dirty, there's no air conditioning, Wi-Fi, breakfast or TV, and you have to share your space with a stranger. What are you paying for? Nights are noisy, so there's no peace. White Sands Hostile would be a more accurate name. Never again.

It's set up like an apartment with two bedrooms, and to reach your room you have to cross a living room shared with people you don't know. The bathroom is shared too. The room was humid and stuffy, full of mosquitoes, and not very clean. The bathroom was tiny and nasty, with a very dirty shower. Breakfast is up on the third floor, and there's no elevator, so it isn't disability friendly. Bring your own water. There's no TV, the pool wasn't clean, and the place is overpriced in every way. Not recommended.

The name says what this place is for: sleep, have breakfast, then head out. The owners are really friendly, and it's very peaceful and quiet when the other guests aren't around. Sometimes you have to deal with disturbing people since you each get a room but share the kitchen and bathroom. It's truly an apartment. The beach is very close and walkable. There’s free Wi-Fi, but they got rid of the TVs, so bring a tablet or laptop for Netflix. My reservation said my room had air conditioning, but it didn't. It's kind of cool anyway, though not cool enough if you're trying to avoid a big sunburn. The shower has hot water. The bed isn't that comfortable, but you get what you pay for.

A good, cheaper alternative to the resorts. The rooms are basic but have what you need, and breakfast in the morning was great. The people there were very nice and helpful. I'd recommend it.
