Villa Rosa

We came back to Punta Rucia yesterday by moto just to say hi and relax on the beach, and now I can’t wait to return for a few more nights and try the Eco Lodge. Our one night at Villa Rosa, at the end of July 2021, was fabulous. Shannon, the hotel manager, was friendly and welcoming and made the stay delightful. The lovely room had a huge fan over the bed, and even without AC we stayed comfortable. You could hear some outdoor noise, so earplugs might help, but we slept well. The bathroom was standard and open. Breakfast the next morning, right on the beach, was one of the best I’ve had in the Dominican Republic.

Such a friendly guesthouse manager from Switzerland, speaking a hell lot of languages! The French breakfast was the best, and the beach view was amazing. It’s the best place to stay in punta rucia and a great starting point for the cayo arena / paradise island tour. Give it a try!

The beach breakfast was complimentary, and the restaurant was small but served tasty lunch and supper. The facility was clean and well maintained, with wonderful staff. It’s a small, top-end hotel with only five rooms, two on the second floor and three in the second building. WiFi is free, but payment is cash only, in pesos or US dollars. After breakfast on the beach in front of the hotel, you can rent a motor launch with a coxn to Paradise Isl for 3500 pesos for two. Going early means you arrive well before the larger vessels and can visit while it’s uncrowded.

Breakfast was great, and you can't complain about the view. We rented the second floor, which was rustic and a bit unfinished, but comfortable, and we all slept well. They call it an eco-lodge, though I’d describe it as an urban lodge since it’s in an active part of town. It worked well for us, but if you like to critique every little detail, this probably isn't the place. Next time we’ll stay longer.
