I really enjoyed talking with the host and his son about the DR. They were so welcoming, and the house itself is lovely. Breakfast was served whenever we were ready, at a nice clean table with a white cloth. I could happily have spent the whole time enjoying the house. The reason for four stars is our room had no window and poor ventilation, so the bathroom humidity spread into it. The bathroom had no window either, and a pipe under the sink was broken and leaking.

The people running the place were extremely friendly and helpful. For 40 dollars a night, breakfast included, it was great value and much cheaper than the other places I saw in Santo Domingo. The house is a beautiful refurbished aristocratic colonial building, with air conditioning and a ceiling fan that made it a cool break from cheaper hostels.

The owner, manager, and maids are all very nice, and I had some great conversations with them. The place gets cleaned frequently, and it’s a lovely base for enjoying the city. The one inconvenience is having to ask them every time I need to come in or go out.

It’s cozy, with a very comfortable bed, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is available too. A good place for a couple or one person who just needs somewhere to spend the night.
