Hostal Tierra Plana

The rooftop is a lovely place for breakfast, with views over the river ozama and the old town reaching up to the Farro Colón. You can also enjoy cocktails up there in the evening as the sun sets. The staff were kind and helpful, and the rooms are nice and practical, though they could perhaps use more lighting. The hotel is right in the historical zona colonial, making it easy to explore the area, restaurants, and highlights. We’ll be back.

The location is good and the staff are nice and seem to be trying, but I can’t recommend this hotel after my stay. I’ve gone two days without hot water. Staff have tried to fix it several times, yet the water is still only barely warm and comes out in a weak trickle, so I haven’t had a proper shower since arriving. I asked to switch rooms and was told none were available. A working shower is a basic necessity, and this was extremely disappointing.

At Gran hotel Europa, the staff really focus on taking care of guests and were always ready to help with our requests, especially at breakfast. They kept smiling and did their best to make us happy. Kevin and Alexandra, thank you so much, you’re amazing! abrazos 💜😘

We found the room clean and the bathroom worked perfectly. Breakfast was included, and everyone on staff was super friendly. Alexandra, who served us breakfast, was quick and so sweet with our son. The hotel is in zona colonial, within walking distance of most attractions. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Santo Domingo.
