The property is dependable, if fairly ordinary. What stands out is how much care the staff take to help guests feel comfortable. Their service is on par with, and may even surpass, what I've had at five-star resorts. I'd book here again without hesitation.

The rooms feel a bit dated, but the hotel is nice and has both a restaurant and a gym.

On my short visit to Santo Domingo, I stayed at the Alandino. The room was nicely finished and the bed was really comfortable. You can smoke cigars at the outdoor cafe/bar, and I suggest trying a Presidente while you're there.

The food was genuinely good, though the juice had way too much sugar, and I appreciated the warm welcome. The hotel is centrally located and close to the metro. My room was clean, but during my seven-day stay they never changed the sheets, which I found disgusting. I hope they'll change them next time. At dinner, the restaurant staff repeatedly told me they were closing, starting at 8 p.m. They interrupted me about three times while I was eating, but never asked whether the meal was okay or if I needed anything. This happened on three nights in a row. It felt very impolite.

I had a good stay here and would gladly come back. The hotel is a couple of blocks from the referencia where I got my COVID test, and the result was ready that evening. It's not right in the middle of everything, but most things you need aren't far away. The staff were excellent, and the spacious rooms were clean. Breakfast was good and free, and the restaurant had plenty of food choices. Try the coco loco dessert if you get the chance. I'd recommend this place every time.
