JW Marriott Hotel Santo Domingo

Our rooms were clean, and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We had a great time. When my daughter had a stomach ache, our waiter Jose asked the chef to make her chicken soup so she could feel better. You don’t get those little gestures at every hotel.

As a Marriott Bonvoy Gold member, I expected respectful, professional service, but we felt unwelcome and judged by our appearance from the moment we arrived. I thought luxury hotels had moved beyond that. The bellboy was rude when we tried to stop briefly to unload luggage and didn’t offer help. The signs to the hotel were unclear, so we had to ask several people for directions. In the lobby, nobody greeted us; we waited in silence until we asked whether we could check in. I brought this to shift manager Felix, but the only compensation for the series of service failures was a glass of wine. That felt dismissive and inappropriate for a brand like JW Marriott. This felt like a pattern that left us feeling discriminated against because of how we looked, despite our loyalty status. If being treated with dignity and consistency matters to you, I’d think twice before choosing this property.

The hotel connects directly to the best mall in town, which makes the location incredible. If you want dinner, the mall is only a minute away and has some very sophisticated options. 👏

Most of my clients stay at this hotel, since I provide VIP transportation, and their experience has been very positive. It’s a very nice hotel.
