Novus Plaza Hodelpa Hotel

The location is excellent, and the staff were pleasant. I speak English, and I never felt that anyone minded my not-so-great Spanish. The fresh fruit at breakfast was consistently good, though the rest of the meal was the same predictable selection every day. The rooms were clean, but several things need attention: the fridge didn’t work properly, the shower swung between hot and cold, and water pooled in the walk-in shower like a tub, which was uncomfortable. I also saw a roach in my room, and the pillows could use replacing now and then. The hallway carpet had an old smell and may need to be changed. The Wi-Fi feels decades behind for 2025. With this location and such nice workers, the stay could be superb if the hotel put effort into improving the rooms and amenities. I hope they do, because that would make being away from home a lot better.

The staff were pleasant and helpful, but I’m not sure the place was being cleaned properly. There was human hair on both beds and in the bathroom when I arrived, so I was glad I’d brought extra towels to cover the pillow. The bathroom smell came and went, and sometimes I could notice it outside the room too. The carpets seem like they need a deep clean. I’d probably stay again, but I’d bring my own linens, towels, and disinfectant. The hotel sits right in the middle of the colonial district, which is ideal. The rooms are small, and I didn’t care for having two single beds. At breakfast, the Cafe was okay, but the table mats were often not properly cleaned, so I asked them to take mine away. The hot chocolate was really good, though they never served enough, and I thought the breakfast options could have been more varied. By the last day I gave up and went to a nearby Cafe. In the lobby, attendants were wiping around guests. Unless there’s a spill, I think that should happen at a quieter time.

They came to fix things, but the hair dryer didn’t work, the bathtub float got stuck, and there were no lights.

My complaint is about the front desk supervisor, dayanelis. She was rude and unprofessional. If she doesn’t like dealing with people or can’t greet them with at least a smile, she shouldn’t be working at a hotel front desk. I’d advise management to send her to customer service training.
