My friend and I stayed nearly a week, and the family treated us like family too. It’s a family owned business, so they care about hospitality and service. The location is good and feels safe and secure, close to the President Palace, Zonal Colonial, the beach, and other city sights. I’ve been to almost 25 countries and seen the good, bad, and ugly. If I return to Santo Domingo, I’d definitely stay here again.

A handy location and clean, comfortable rooms for the price. A good fit for a budget traveler who doesn’t need a pool or 24 hour room service.

The rooms are on the small side, but the shared living room on the 4th or 5th floor is quiet and relaxing, with chairs and a sea view. Each room has its own kitchen and bathroom. There’s a washing machine and dryer too. Laundry costs five US 25-cent coins per load. The owners are friendly, and you can ask about renting a room long term. It’s near Caribe Tour, the main bus station for trips to other cities and provinces. This is an area of government offices, not a tourist neighborhood, but the police headquarters is nearby, so I felt the safety was fine. The streets are quieter on weekends. Zona Colonial is about a 20-25 minute walk. Along the way you pass the palace of the president, which foreigners can visit with their original passport. On Avenue 27th there’s a bus stop for China Town. Each ride costs 15 pesos, and Uber isn’t expensive here. Motor concho taxis are available on the street, but they usually quote foreigners a high price. The average fare is 30-50 pesos, so if they ask for more, try Uber instead. Muy amable y tranquilo.

They treated customers like family, and I’ve never felt so secure at a hotel in Santo Domingo (DR). I travel twice a year and have stayed in several hotels there. This was my second time here, and I hope to come back soon. Thanks for everything.
