Algiers Marriott Hotel Bab Ezzouar

I only stayed briefly before my flight, but Raouf and Mahrez at reception treated me with real respect and professionalism. I missed the shuttle and only had a credit card, but they helped me get cash and arrange a taxi. We also had a very pleasant conversation. I hope I got their names spelled right.

The laundry service was the low point of my stay. My clothes were a day late, and nobody tried to speed things up. They blamed me for not asking for pickup, even though I'd already put everything outside, and the day before the service had worked fine. It still wasn't ready by checkout. Before that, I thought this was the best hotel in Algiers: the room and reception were okay, and breakfast and the restaurants were standard but good enough.

During an airline layover, I stayed in room 333 and found the toilet bowl disgustingly dirty. I called housekeeping, but it took an hour for anyone to come. By then I was tired and cleaned it myself. It seemed to me that the same room is repeatedly assigned to airline staff, with housekeeping rushing to clear it after each checkout before the next guest arrives. Later, on the evening of 11Oct2025, a ground floor security guard seemed to doubt that I was staying there and gestured for me to leave as I entered. Once I showed him my room card, he let me in without a word, then said, “welcome welcome”.

I’ve stayed at Marriott hotels in Europe and traveled all over the world, and this was the worst hotel I’ve ever been in. The service was bad, the atmosphere dull, and the staff looked depressed. Even the reception toilet was broken, with no paper towels or anything to dry your hands. The reception cafe had no ambiance and hardly any food choice. Shocking, is this really a Marriott hotel?
