Le Méridien Oran Hotel & Convention Centre

The food was a letdown, repetitive and short on variety. Breakfast was essentially repeated at lunch and dinner, with little care for freshness or taste. Some waiters also made me uncomfortable by staring, which made dining less pleasant. At Le Méridien Oran, my 12-day stay fell well short of expectations: the room was dusty, the towels dirty, and cleanliness below the standard for this kind of hotel. For a place carrying the Méridien name, that service and hospitality aren't acceptable. I hope they make serious improvements for future guests.

Breakfast wasn't included in my booking and cost around 2500 DZD, about $18, which felt steep. Water spilled onto the bathroom floor and made it slippery, and room service could be slow. Front desk staff weren't always helpful or clear, some elevators were out of order, and parts of the hotel are showing their age and need renovation. Still, the rooms were spacious, clean, and well kept, and the Mediterranean view from the cliff is stunning. There is a full spa, gym, indoor and outdoor pools, restaurants, and a large convention center. Wi-Fi and parking are free, and staff speak Arabic, French, English, and Spanish, which made communication easy. The hotel works well for business events or a luxury stay, though service can be uneven and the extras pricey. Ask for a sea-view room if possible. With some updates, it could feel like a five-star experience.

I only used the conference centre for the El Besta concert on August 8th, 2025, and didn't stay in the rooms or deal with hotel staff or services. I felt safe and enjoyed the show in the auditorium. But the entrance was confusing, since you had to use a path separate from the hotel. They wouldn't let us bring even a small bottle of water, though one was sold inside for 150 da, much more than its usual price. When we got in, there were no seats for us, and the ticket numbers didn't seem to count. It was first come, first served, so you need to arrive early. I also got lost leaving, with no event staff or signs to point the way.

The breakfast buffet was varied and delicious, and dinner dishes were good quality. Staff were friendly and helpful, which made the stay welcoming. The rooms are spacious and clean, with breathtaking ocean views, though some furniture and bathroom fixtures feel dated. The hotel could use some updates, but I still had an enjoyable and relaxing stay.
