Novotel Constantine

The cold room was the last straw. When I asked to move, reception said every room was cold because they hadn’t turned on the heating yet. The staff were unhelpful and impolite, and the reception team had been rude when I first reported a problem with the safe. There was a constant food smell in the room all day, and the safe didn’t work. The laundry bag was missing too, so I had to take my clothes down to reception in my own bag. I also found hair from previous guests in the bathroom, which hadn’t been cleaned properly. Around the hotel, the walls were stained and the furniture looked old, with maintenance clearly neglected. They advertise a welcome juice, but I wasn’t offered one at check-in. I stayed in Constantine in November and was extremely disappointed. It felt like the hotel had been abandoned, and the experience was far below what I expected from ACCOR for that price. I can’t recommend it.

The bar treated customers unfairly. I was told I couldn’t buy a beer and take it to my room, even though other guests were allowed to buy drinks and take them outside the hotel. Service was slow too. The management should improve customer service, because treating people well is the foundation of success.

Algeria travel calls for a sense of humour. The city is interesting and the locals are lovely, which helps with the shabby feel of the hotel. Reception was really helpful, especially Fadua and Souha. The location is great, the rooms are spacious, and there’s a bar serving alcohol. On the less good side, the safe is only a safe in theory, the beds are a bit hard, and the wifi is unreliable. Breakfast depends on when you get there. You know the Alanis Morrisette song " a million spoons when all you need is a knife". Still, enjoy the place!

The location is great, but outside the lobby the hotel is really run down. I was on the 2nd floor, where the hallway carpet was coming up along the edges, and my room carpet had major stains. The windows looked like they hadn’t been cleaned for years. It needs an upgrade.
