The owner, Oliver, later offered to cover the difference for the more expensive hotel we found nearby, which earns this review an extra star. But the rest of the experience was bizarre and really stressful. We'd reserved two bungalows over a month ahead, and got confirmation by email. When we booked, Oliver had also messaged on WhatsApp that the suite normally cost $200 a night, but he'd charge us $100. Then, on the morning we were due to check in, I sent him a quick WhatsApp to say we were on our way. He replied that our reservation wasn't in the system and there were no rooms for us. There were four of us, and we spent the next two hours scrambling to find somewhere to stay. It was May 1, a national holiday in Ecuador, which made that extremely difficult. My travel buddy felt the rooms might have been deliberately offered to someone at full price, twice our discounted rate from six weeks earlier. We can't know if that was the reason, but it was a very unpleasant situation.

Oliver was really kind, and the place itself was beautiful and so relaxing. We had an amazing time, 10/10, would recommend.

We'd stay here again. Oliver and his family were helpful and accommodating, and the property is lovely, with comfortable rooms and a great view. It's close to downtown and the attractions, but tucked away enough to feel quiet. They also had great suggestions for things to do in Baños.

This might be the most unusual hotel we've stayed in. It has so much character in every room and on every surface, like it was created by and for people with their own style. The service was excellent, and there's a gorgeous waterfall view. If you're after somewhere quiet and special, you'd be crazy not to stay here.
