I felt completely safe traveling solo, and getting around the city was easy and affordable. The caretakers were so kind, even helping with my laundry, and the jacuzzi was beautiful. I stayed at Shannon Hotel 360 from July 19th to 27th. The mountain view from my room was breathtaking, and the cool Ecuadorian weather made it easy to sleep with the window open, no AC needed. Everything in the room felt spotless and thoughtfully laid out. I especially liked the mat between the bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom had plenty of space for my things, a mirror at the right height, and consistently hot water. Even the tiles and grout were immaculately clean. Waking up to that view each morning felt like a gift. A real 10/10 for me. I'm already looking forward to coming back for the Writers’ Retreat next year, and I'd highly recommend it, especially to anyone traveling alone.

The whirlpools were a nice extra, and the hotel itself looks new and clean. It's in Baños, a little away from the busy city center, but only a short walk to get there.

It's nearly all new and very clean, and the best part is how quiet it is. A bit out of the way, around a 20-minute walk from the town center, so having your own transport is ideal. That distance also means you can enjoy the peace.

We booked and paid in Germany for a room for two nights, but when we got to the hotel they said there was no reservation or deposit. The young man at reception said he knew who had the money, but couldn't get hold of him. Even after we showed the booking confirmation and invoice, they wouldn't accept them. Their only offer was that we pay half the amount again to get a room. We're currently traveling around Ecuador and have booked a few other hotels and hostels without any problems. Such a shame. We hope Expedia will refund our money.
