I booked two nights, loved this little hotel so much that I added a third, and I'll be back. My room was spacious and comfortable, with a great hot water shower. The owner and everyone I met were wonderful and did everything to make me feel at home. I'm from Florida, so beaches don't usually impress me, but this one did. It was the nicest beach I've seen, the water wasn't too cold, and I practically had it to myself. You mostly hear the ocean and wind, and breakfast is included, very good, and a nice addition to the value. There are plenty of places to eat just a few minutes away by car.

We had a really nice four-night stay in February. The rooms and the area around the house were clean and pleasant, and the beach was clean too. Most of the time we had it to ourselves, which made this a great spot to rest and listen to the waves. The owner was kind and helpful. For $3 a day, you can use a large kitchen stocked with everything you need, including a smoothie maker, toaster, coffee, and a fridge. There's also a big hall with table tennis, plus a beach volleyball court by the water. Thank you!

We'd been traveling around ecuador for a while when Sundown became the perfect place for my boyfriend and me to slow down. I first came with friends and booked one night, then ended up staying nearly two weeks with him. The beach right in front is beautiful and good for swimming and surfing at any level. I even liked it more than the beach in playa canoas. Breakfast was delicious, the staff were really friendly, and I loved meeting the other guests. Sundown is beautiful and laid back, with what we needed and none of the extra fancy stuff we didn't want. Playa Canoas is a lovely, relaxed town about a 20-minute walk away, or $2 by taxi. It hasn't been overdeveloped, and I'd definitely return. Highly recommend it if you want to take it easy in the sun. Thanks, Sundown community, for a wonderful stay!

The family who run Sundown are so friendly and always ready to help. Their food package is amazing and cheap, and the Spanish lessons are great value too. Sundown Inn is a lovely little hostel/hotel with private rooms about 30 metres from the beach. The rooms are nice, and if you can get a second-floor balcony view, it's unreal. The surrounding area is a beautiful, laid-back beach town. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Have a wicked trip, I'm jealous, and once you go, you'll want to come back.

I spent a month here and will definitely come back. Even after the recent 7.8 earthquake, the place was still alive and well. It's one of the most beautiful spots on Ecuador's Northern Coast, with warm days, cool breezes, excellent Spanish classes, and great food. I couldn't have asked for more. Paradise in Ecuador, so don't hesitate to visit!
