Hotel La Cuadra

Jairo and his wife Carmen made me feel at home, and they know Cotacachi and the surrounding area really well. The hotel is quiet and clean, right in the city center near small grocery stores and shops selling local arts and crafts. My bed was comfortable, breakfast was tasty and included in the room price. I just got back from Ecuador and had a wonderful stay here. Highly recommended!

The room was spacious, with a private bathroom and the biggest, comfiest bed we've had so far. The owner was friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included: lots of eggs, avocado and ham, two slices of toast, jugo, and a large cup of amazing local coffee. But we hadn't realized the agreed $15 was per person, so this ended up being our most expensive stay. We're traveling on a budget, our seasonal work doesn't pay much, and most of our nights have been around $10-$15. When I tried to shower, the water was ice cold. I waited until morning, thinking it had run out, but it was still cold. We asked about it, and he said he'd accidentally forgotten to turn the hot water on.

Jaíro and everyone there were so nice, helpful, and informative. They made me feel at home, which means a lot when you're thousands of miles from home. The breakfast comes with the stay, and it was huge and delicious, worth $8 or more on its own. I had a great experience at La Cuadra. Highly recommend, and thanks, Jaíro!

The hosts are amazing and really try to meet your needs. Carmen is a sweetheart. I lost my voice while I was there, and she made me her home remedy every day. Jairo also arranged a night out at the hot springs for us, which was a really nice treat. The place is right by the plaza and near 10 de Agusto st, where all the main leather shops are. Ask to go up to the terrace for the stunning view, it's beautiful both in the morning and at night. I can't say enough good things about this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay.
