I paid the Manager both a deposit and rent in advance. After the owner had a disagreement with her Manager and fired him, she returned to run the hotel and demanded that I pay the rent again. I reluctantly said I would, but needed a couple of days to transfer more money. She pestered me every day, then when I paid, she took the money and locked me out. I've never met anyone so greedy and evil. Even her workers came asking me for money because she wouldn't pay them. Her Manager, Javier, was actually a very nice person, so it's no surprise they fell out. She will take your money. Take this as a warning. I'm a very nice guy and have seldom dealt with someone like this. Avoid this hotel at all costs.

It's on a quiet street, so nights weren't noisy, even though the historic old city location puts you near lots of restaurants and points of interest. The rooms were beautiful, the beds really comfortable, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. The hotel has just opened and everything is beautifully renovated. The very reasonable price included breakfast. We loved our stay and would recommend it to anyone visiting Cuenca.

The hallway floors are beautiful, but they could use carpets to cut down on nighttime noise. My other small gripe: nobody told me to plug in the refrigerator, so after an evening out I came back thirsty to warm drinks. The café with cold drinks was closed, and I didn't want to head out again because the front door gets locked at night. Those little things won't cost it a star from me. I really enjoyed my stay and would come back when I visit again in January. The room was just the right size for two, and the shower and bathroom were amazing. I liked the window that opens, too. Staff were super friendly, spoke amazing English, and even let me practice my Spanish, which isn't very good. Check-in was easy, and there was no international charge on my card. The hotel was awesome. I stayed one night and wished I could have stayed longer, especially at that price with breakfast included. I left before breakfast was ready so I could catch my flight.

A surprisingly nice place after the new renovation. The hotel lobbies still have lots of cool older features.
