For the price, I expected a few more extras, especially with so many similar hotels nearby. There are too few outlets for charging devices and no desk in the room. Breakfast is simple: the fresh fruit is good, while everything else is basic. The modern room decor doesn't really fit the old house. That said, the hotel is clean, the room is tidy and comfortable, and the service is friendly and helpful. It's conveniently located a few blocks from Parque Calderón, in a former colonial era house like many other places in the area. Nothing is seriously wrong, but I don't get the five star ratings. I was happy with the stay, it was fine, a solid three star experience.

The room was immaculate and huge, with a great bathroom. There’s also a lovely inner courtyard, handy if you smoke. Raymipampa is central, just a few minutes on foot from the tram stop, which is useful for getting to the bus terminal. I only stayed two nights, though that wasn’t nearly enough for gorgeous Cuenca. It’s a beautiful city, and not comparable to Quito. The staff were very kind and spoke English really well.

The hotel has a really pleasant, relaxing feel, and it’s quiet despite being right in the middle of Cuenca. Breakfast was good, and they even offered to make scrambled eggs. Whenever I needed milk for my coffee, someone was quick to bring some upstairs. The staff were the best I’ve come across at a hotel, always going out of their way to keep guests happy. They let me check in early and gave me plenty of tips about local attractions and getting around Ecuador. The owners’ adult children also work at the front desk, and they’re both fantastic.
