Siena Hotel

The people here are top notch, so kind and helpful, and the hotel itself is beautiful in an excellent location. I'd definitely recommend it. They'll lend you a hair dryer, and they can send out your laundry with a quick turnaround.

A nice place to stay, with attentive, friendly staff. The colonial charm comes from the rooms opening around a courtyard. But sound carries from the rooms into the courtyard, so I didn't feel there was much privacy. Still, it's not a bad place.

The club beside the hotel stays open until 3:30 am, so this is a rough choice if you have young kids. We had two children and were put in a tiny room where we found poisonous spiders. When I raised it, the manager told me not to worry. I asked him to pick one up with his bare hand if he felt that way, and he refused, though he did agree to move us afterward. Traveling alone with my husband might have been fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for families.

Our first-floor room was clean, with a nicely appointed bedroom and bathroom, but it was noisy at all hours. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the hotel is very reasonably priced. Calle Larga, one of Cuenca's main streets for entertainment, food, and historic sites, is just two blocks away.
