I live nearby and come two to four times a week. It’s family run, and they take real pride in it. The people are some of the nicest in Cuenca. It’s on the north side of El Centro, away from the tourist bustle, with a quieter feel and great food. The elegant, creative dishes are well prepared and presented in a beautiful dining area, making Almuerzo feel fresh. They now send the day’s menu in a WhatsApp thread by 10:30 am.

I found this place on tripadvisor and was glad I did. Diego the concierge was amazing, and the location was good and secure. Our room faced the street, so there was some noise, which may not suit light sleepers. Inside, we had high ceilings, a comfortable bed, cozy linens, a large wardrobe, a couch, satellite TV, and a small hot plate that was perfect for morning coffee. The bathroom was nice. We had a problem with the hot water at first, but they fixed it quickly. Breakfast is available for $3.

The room we ended up in was spacious and quiet. At check-in, they showed us one near the entrance that seemed like it would be noisy, so we asked to switch. They handled it easily and without an extra charge. The shower was cold at first, but after we mentioned it, they fixed something and it was hot within 10 minutes. The internet in our room was weak. Also, the room description didn’t make it clear that the one we booked was on the ground floor, by the entrance, and facing the street.

Parking was a big plus since not every place in Cuenca has it. Breakfast was delicious, especially the "humita" ❤️
