Venue Batán Hotel & Suites

My wife and I stopped at their restaurant to eat a couple of days ago. About 30 minutes later, something seemed wrong with the food and we had to rush back to our hotel with “ D “. I don't recommend the hotel.

It's nice, but very expensive. There are better options.

We came to Cuenca with family, including someone who needed oxygen. Since we have a house in Montanita, we knew about the power outages and asked the hotel for a schedule so we could plan around his needs. They said not to worry because they had a generator. On the first night the power went out at 10 pm, and the generator worked for an hour before stopping. At 6:00 am the next morning, the power went out again. There was no generator, so we had cold showers and couldn't charge the oxygen batteries. The front desk said they'd run out of gas. The power went out again at 10:00 pm that night, still with no generator. The next morning at 6 am, it happened again, along with more cold showers. This time the front desk told us the owner had directed them not to use the generator. That evening, when we returned from dinner, they said the power would go out at 10:00 pm and they would not run it. We checked out a day early the next morning and explained that one guest needed to charge his breathing machine. They refused to refund the unused night. Terrible.

The location worked well for us, with most places we wanted to visit within walking distance. Taxis were easy to get for anywhere farther away, and we never waited more than 5 minutes. There are several local markets nearby, plenty of good local food, and even a Nike Outlet store where I bought new walking shoes. The staff were friendly and super helpful, check-in was easy, and the clean rooms were maintained daily. Hot water, a coffee maker, and excellent WIFI speed and range made the stay even better. I was able to video conference with coworkers on Teams without trouble. I'll definitely stay here again.
