The location was good, the room was clean, and the staff were excellent. I liked the lobby and the food was good, especially the breakfast buffet. But the restaurant food was served lukewarm and had gone cold by halfway through. The rooms felt plain and underdesigned for a Courtyard, with a cheap look that didn't match the lobby. I've been a Marriott member for over 20 years, and the room had a 32" TV on the wall. It was underwhelming.

The location was fine and the staff were nice, but they were ineffective. We booked the 6am airport shuttle and arrived early, only to find it full, with no other shuttle available. Earlier, a party on the floor below got louder and louder, and the employees couldn't get them to quiet down. It was an Ecuadorian rave, and we ended up having to switch rooms at midnight. The walls are paper thin too. We woke to cleaners next door and thought they were in our room. Legitimately terrible.

We stayed at Courtyard by Marriot - Guayaquil for two nights before our Galapagos trip and one night after, and it was a terrific choice. Kevin at the front desk was especially helpful and accommodating. We wanted to arrange a city tour, so he called a guide on his personal phone and we made the arrangements with the guide from there. The tour exceeded our expectations. Everyone else we dealt with at the desk, in the rooms, and in the restauraunt was friendly and helpful too.

The staff were ready to jump in and sort out any issue right away, and the rooms were comfortable and spacious, with fast room service and excellent cleaning. The airport shuttle was prompt and easy, and breakfast was amazing. The restaurant stays open until 2 a.m., and there's a handy mini shop on the first floor that's always available. Courtyard is a great example of top-notch hospitality in Guayaquil.
