Everything is close by, which was handy, and the staff were really friendly. A few things in my room were broken, but they were willing to fix them straight away. It's a budget hotel, so you get what you pay for. I'd recommend it if you're on a budget.

I won't stay here again at any price. It's cheap, but there are plenty of other cheap places. Look in garzotta for the 'white house', which is about the same price and has a pool and kitchenette. The room itself felt stuck in the 80's, with only poor repairs since then. The lights were awful: a single bulb fluorescent unit was badly wired and just resting on old panels. The photos show dirt inside the panels that looks like it hasn't been touched in ages. The bathroom 'fixture' let you see right through to the inner ceiling, which looked like it might contain open asbestos. My room had windows, unlike most of the inner rooms, but they didn't seal, so street noise poured in even from seven stories up. Forget daytime rest. The Wifi was available, but at times the throughput was so poor that it was almost impossible to access anything. The shower had hot water, but usually took 3-5 minutes to come through, and the shower head had very little flow. Customer service was only passable. If you came back late, getting in depended on the guy at the desk answering the buzzer. Twice I was left on the street, buzzing and calling both hotel numbers until he woke up, once after 10 minutes and once after 15. People in that part of Guayaquil told me it was extremely dangerous, which may be why my Uber drivers waited until I got inside. They also have a strange rule that nobody else can come into your room without an extra charge. A friend visited for an hour and a half in the evening, didn't stay overnight, and they charged me $10. The room rate is the same for single or double occupancy, so that charge felt ridiculous.

I've stayed here twice now, and I love the place. It's well priced and in a good spot, and they always try to meet your needs and keep you happy. I'd give them six stars if I could.

Every night around 2 o'clock, very loud music would start and go on for about 2-3 hours. I couldn't sleep. We stayed two nights, and this was the worst hotel I've seen. The rooms were very old and not very clean, with a damp, bad smell. There was blood and hair on the sheets. The bathroom was tiny, had no bath towels and no exhaust fan. The elevator was old, small, and dirty, and made me worry it might fall. When we needed hot water, the boss had locked the door.

The free breakfast was decent, at least. But the room had no window, the pillow had hair on it, the TV didn't work, and the soap smelled like iguana piss. There was Wi-Fi in name, but I couldn't even get to Google. The Google listing photos looked obviously staged, like a bait and switch. I've stayed in hostels all over the world, and this was one of the worst places I've been. Do yourself a favor and stay at the Tomo Hostel nearby. It's much, much cleaner.
