Hotel Presidente Internacional

We chose the hotel for an overnight stop before an early flight, and it was good value for what we paid. It's a few blocks from the river, with a few restaurants within walking distance, though the immediate area isn't especially attractive. The room was spacious, but the bathroom felt cramped and the shower leaked a little onto the floor. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and despite being on a main street, we hardly heard traffic. Breakfast was simple but enough.

The photos are misleading, and this definitely isn't a four-star hotel. First our AC didn't work. They moved us to a room where it did, but the window had been left open, so we got attacked by mosquitoes. One of the worst hotel experiences I've had, if not the worst, worse than Cuba.

The breakfast was good, simple but enough. The rest was awful. The room was dirty, and the "couch" was so filthy I think my dog's bed is cleaner. The toilet clogged, though they did manage to fix it. I couldn't get more than a three-minute hot shower: the water went cold, and when I called reception, someone came to explain how to turn the water off and on. It was still cold, and then they said they had a lot of guests.

I was extremely disappointed by this one-night stay on a school trip. There were only two outlets for three people and three beds, so we had to charge our phones in the bathroom. Our room was cramped, and the only window looked onto the elevator shaft, with the elevator noise every time it was used. That window also clicked whenever the wind blew, which was often on the coast. The sheets, comforter, and pillows were discolored and stained. All the girls in our group got rooms like ours, while the guys had much nicer rooms with hot tubs, balconies, couches, and windows. Dinner at the hotel was disgusting: cold microwaved food, then jello in tiny plastic cups with plastic spoons for dessert. One friend is vegan and got a spongy fake-meat thing that nobody even wanted to touch. The whole experience was terrible. I'd give zero stars if I could.
