Platinum Class Hostal

For $18 a night, this is quite nice. The room is spacious and has A/C, hot water, a desk, dresser, nightstand, sofa, a large bathroom, and a flat screen TV where plugging in an HDMI cable is easy. The folks running the hotel are nice, and they did my laundry. It's only four blocks from the entrance to a very nice ecological park. My one issue is the usual one in South America: you have to wait for someone to unlock the door when you want to go in or out. It makes me feel like I'm in jail.

A good overnight stop, especially if you're traveling by car. There's secure parking on site, and although there isn't much within walking distance, getting here is easy. It's quiet, and our room looked out over the town.

We spent one night here before leaving for Cuyabeno and had a great stay. We arrived at night and didn't feel very safe in town, but the kind staff gave us a warm welcome and we were happy with the room. When we were heading out to look for food, they kindly suggested it wasn't a good idea and offered to arrange delivery. The lady took care of everything, which we really appreciated. Thanks again for being so kind!

The owner was helpful and even drove us to a place for dinner, and we had a secure spot to park behind a gate. The room was decent and clean. The showers weren't warm, which was the only real downside, and the beds were a bit stiff, though I haven't found a soft bed in Ecuador yet. They don't speak much English, so brush up on your Spanish. It's a walk to anything in the center. All in all, a decent place to stay.
