Hotel Báltico

The location is great, and the staff have gone out of their way to make my stay a good one. I’m booking a couple more days. Breakfast is good, and the internet works well in most of the hotel.

Everything worked during my stay, including the hot, strong shower, and the rooms, bathrooms, sheets, and towels were clean. The hostel/hotel is near the centre, with restaurants and a supermarket close by. Staff were friendly and helpful. Guests can use a fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, oven, microwave, and gas hob. Great value, highly recommend.

The room had a terrible smell, whether the windows were open or shut. The people initially seemed like the only good thing about the place, but then, on our last night, over 70% of the clothes we paid to have washed were ruined by bleach. The guy refunded the laundry fee but did nothing else to fix it. They even said they couldn’t refund us because the clothes weren’t new. Hilariously bad service.

The rooms were comfortable, with hot water, good pressure, and reliable WiFi. The location is excellent, near the metro and a couple of blocks from centro histórico, with a supermarket a minute away and restaurants nearby. I stayed in three places in Quito, and this one was head and shoulders above the other two, so I came back. Erika was especially kind and helpful with directions and getting around, and she checked that everything was okay. The staff are very responsive on WhatsApp. There’s water downstairs, a shared kitchen with a fridge, stovetop, and microwave, and a good breakfast. Some days there was a choice of tortilla and eggs or a meat and cheese sandwich; another day it was humitas with scrambled eggs. Laundry was quick and excellent.
