Hotel Mar Azul

Location and price are hard to beat, and the employees were nice and tried to make us comfortable. The rooms need work, though. Deluxe and double rooms aren't all the same, and it's unclear which ones have which bed sizes. The sheets and towels didn't seem well washed or ironed, and the pillows and water smelled strange. Water pressure was low, so washing my hair was a chore. If more than one person is staying in a room, even a double, you have to ask for extra towels and toiletries. I hadn't been told the laundry bag costs $5, and that doesn't include washing. The room floors looked swept but not mopped. Breakfast was sad: if money is tight, eat for free; if you can spend a little, go to the mall or somewhere else. The hotel needs to invest more so the rooms and food live up to the service.

The location made it easy to get around, and the rooms are modern with A/C. Everyone was really kind, especially Cythia, Juan, the tall guy who helped me find my room, and Karen at breakfast. They even helped with my crummy Spanish. I’d definitely stay again :)

I was given a different room from the one I booked, though they discounted the price and that settled it for me. Still, rooms that aren’t available shouldn’t be listed on booking.

Small, pleasant hotel, though I waited almost five minutes for hot water. That’s a lot of water going to waste.
