Sacha Urco Lodge -Private Cloud Forest Reserve in Mindo-4x4 Recommended March-April

We wanted somewhere away from town where we could slow down, and the area was lovely. We even spotted a red squirrel. My granddaughter had a great time exploring the jungle, watching birds and looking at ants, and she was thrilled with the watermelon 🍉 left in the fridge as a welcome treat. The bungalows were clean and cozy. Sol was a great host, the food was excellent, and I liked being able to prepare some of our own meals.

The river runs alongside the property, and the forest is full of life. We loved seeing the horses, roaming cows, ducks, butterflies and all kinds of birds, including toucans and hummingbirds. Sunrise over the canopy was another highlight, as were the guided walks and getting to spend time near the animals. Sol and Juan have built a cozy, clean lodge that fits naturally into the Mindi forest. Our room was comfortable and had lovely tropical views. They brought clean towels every day, served delicious meals and checked that we were doing well. The pool is chemical-free, and their care for the forest and its wildlife is clear. Staying here felt like supporting responsible tourism and conservation. Thank you, Sol and Juan, for all the work you put into protecting this place. We’d love to come back.

Those early mornings were a highlight for me. I’d make coffee around 5 a.m. with the machine and tin of coffee in the cabin, then sit on the bench and watch the sun come through the trees as the forest woke up. I left with lovely memories and would recommend Sacha Urco. The cabin was spacious and spotless, with a nice mix of rustic and stylish. Sol and Jose were welcoming and professional, and thoughtful things like the borrowed rubber boots and rain capes made forest walks easier. The meals were simple, local and adjusted to what we wanted. Sol also arranged a taxi into Mindo without any fuss. It’s a peaceful cloud forest stay with genuinely warm hospitality.

Sol and Tony were attentive hosts and took care of what we needed. The trails and natural pool were great extras, and our comfortable cabin had awesome views through the front windows. A really lovely spot for anyone who enjoys nature. Highly recommended.
