Luis made us feel so welcome and was kind and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was spotless and well kept, with a beautiful lake view from our private terrace. We also really enjoyed the tasty breakfast. Thanks for such a memorable time in Otavalo!

I still think often about Luis and his lovely family. They made me feel at home, and I miss them and this beautiful place above Lago San Pablo a great deal. I’ll never forget it.

Casa De Luis was a fortunate find just off the highway, with lovely views and roads our little car could handle. We’d first booked another hotel farther up the hill, but the rocky, muddy roads there were too much for our vehicle. At Casa de Luis, the hotel was very clean and our room looked out over the lake and aquatic park. We had a nice breakfast by the fire, and went for dinner at Cabanas del Lago, a short drive or walk away. Luis was super nice and helpful, knew a lot about the area and things to do, and spoke English very well. I recommend staying here if you want somewhere comfortable and clean by the lake, outside Otavalo. We hope to see Luis on our next trip.

Casa de Luis felt like a home, with the service of a hotel and the comfort of a bed and breakfast. We were lucky enough to have the whole second floor and use of the kitchen, and watched a movie in the comfy sofas on the third floor. Luis was very hospitable and made sure we were all comfortable. His family shared a lovely corn and cheese meal with us, and we heard about their past and future ambitions. Luis knows the outdoors and can help plan a trip or guide you on the surrounding mountains or volcano. San Pablo is about a 30 minute walk away, and Otavalo and its famous markets are a $7 taxi ride. Breakfast was included, with fresh fruit, eggs, toast, coffee or tea, and fresh fruit juice. A relaxing, homely stay with beautiful scenery, a small town feel, and friendly people.
