Jose and his family welcomed me with open arms, and I'm really grateful for it. I planned to stay two nights, ended up staying four, and probably would have stayed longer if I hadn't needed to be somewhere for Christmas. My private little hut was cosy and warm, and great value. I loved the off-grid feel, especially drinking morning coffee on my balcony while animals wandered around. Jose even invited me to a solstice ceremony with locals, which was a very cool, authentic experience. The property is isolated, but it's easy to catch a bus or collectivo to town. I walked instead, which was nice. It's about 30-40 minutes to Peguche, and there's a hiking trail right by the entrance. The one downside was the lack of hot water because it relies on solar power. Still, a cold shower was refreshing and a small price to pay. I'd highly recommend it.

The town nearby is warm and welcoming, and the host and his family are lovely. I stayed two nights in a lovely, big cabin at El Tío. Breakfast was beautiful, with fare from El Tíos farm, edible flowers, fruit, organic coffees, and pastries. His family of wee dogs will welcome and protect you too. This may be the most memorable stay of my trip so far.

I really loved the place and think you'll fall in love with it too. The house I got was really good, and you can see he's working to improve it and make it much better. You'll probably see more of those improvements than I did. It's one of the best places I've been.

I stayed in a nice wooden cabin all to myself, on a farm with lovely animals wandering around. The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully done. Tio was a lovely host, and the farm sits on the edge of Ilumin, a lovely, safe little town with some extremely nice people. I'd definitely stay again.

My Ecuador trip was at its best here. I had a lot of fun volunteering, meeting other travelers, and eating good food with a fun, authentic family. Jose is amazing and will take you on trips and hikes. Highly recommend if you're in the area, and I'll definitely visit again.
