There were plenty of places to relax, and someone was always at the desk. The hotel is a few blocks from the centre. I stayed one night; my room was clean and just big enough for the bed, a small table and a chair. Its window looked onto a courtyard, so there wasn’t really a view.
I’ve stayed in worse places, but I wouldn’t recommend this hostel. The room had no soundproofing at all; I could hear people coughing and using the toilet, seemingly throughout the whole hotel. The shower was very cramped to get into. I’m 6'5 and 240, certainly bigger than most Ecuadorians, and had to scrape my chest against the sliding doors to squeeze in. Water leaked everywhere even with the doors fully shut. The toilet handle was broken, so I had to take off the top cover and flush it manually each time. There was only one power outlet, at the foot of the bed, and the TV remote didn’t work.
A decent hostel, though it had a bit less equipment than the other hotels we stayed at on our trip.
It was a good location, close to the market. The postal was clean and the Wi-Fi was good. The Hotstal was a little noisy, but it settled down at night.
The rooms are small but nice and very clean. Good shower and Wi-Fi.
