El Castillo Galapagos

This place had a lovely family feel, and we'd definitely recommend it. We could use the kitchen to make breakfast and the living room to read their books, including a Lonely Planet guide. There was always clean drinking water available, and the two bikes were handy for getting around Puerto Ayora. They're old, and one had no brakes, but as we're in our early twenties it didn't faze us much. We stayed four nights at Castillo while visiting Santa Cruz, then came back for another night after Isabela, before flying home. For most of the stay we had a roomy room with two beds and a great bathroom. On the final night, we were 'upgraded' to the top of the castle, a turret with four beds, a table and chairs, a small TV, and a huge bathroom. That would work well for a family, or even two.

Very safe, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's a bit far from the pier, and there's no restaurant at the hostel. Breakfast isn't included.

Really enjoyed my stay. The room was spacious, everything was very clean, and the staff were super nice. Great shower and excellent breakfast, too.

Be careful. Two months after I left, they ‘accidentally’ charged my card for someone else's stay. They had taken photos of my card at check-in.
