Blu Galapagos Waterfront Lodge

The worst part for me was how little the hotel communicated. I messaged at 8:30am to say I didn't want my room cleaned and got a 🙃 back. Still, when I returned, the room had been cleaned, the windows were all open, and my laundry had been taken for washing. Then at 10pm, with my alarm set for 5am, someone knocked to collect $15 for the laundry. That was the rudest, most inconsiderate thing that happened on my 10 day Galapagos trip. I wouldn't stay here again for that alone. I'd booked 2 nights expecting the highly rated restaurant on site to be open. Nobody told me otherwise at check-in, and I only found out myself that it would be closed for all 3 days I was there. I was incredibly disappointed. On my first night, a local bar outside blasted music so loudly that my room shook for about 4 hours. I had a very negative stay and think I should get part of my money back.

Watching the animals here is really good, and the restaurant is stunning, though it doesn't belong to the hotel. The breakfast itself was very good, with delicious Galapagos coffee, but the breakfast area doesn't feel nice enough for this kind of hotel. It's a great place to stay, just know there's no pool and no proper place to relax on sunbeds.

The room itself was very nice, but the rest of the stay left something to be desired. I hadn't expected so little oceanfront space for guests. Most of it belongs to the restaurant, which may not even be affiliated with the hotel, and all that's left is a tiny breakfast area. The included breakfast was a bit disappointing too.

We loved the quiet feel and the spot by the water, just a short walk from restaurants, shops, and central Puerto Ayora. Everyone on staff was kind, helpful, and professional. The Signature Suite was spacious, beautifully designed, comfortable, and had lovely ocean views. We were upgraded to it, and that made a big difference. We'd seen some of the other rooms beforehand and liked them less, so we were very glad we moved. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Blu Galápagos, especially the Signature Suite for a more comfortable visit.
