Ariana´s Galapagos Hostel

We had the run of the place during our stay, which was kind of nice, but be warned: tell the staff first thing in the morning what you need, or you may have to wait until the next day. I went down to the water delivery truck twice, paid for the hostel’s water, and carried the cooler-sized jug up several flights of stairs. It only cost $1-2, but most places provide water for free and don’t make you haul it upstairs. The cleaner, Natalie, was great, but the hostel probably needs more staff when it has more guests. This was my first “self-service” hostel. There was literally no one there to check us in. We called the owner to say we’d arrived, then about an hour later someone showed us to our room. We were supposed to tell them when we’d arrive, but we had no data or wifi when we got there, and the place being nearly empty was a little unnerving. Thankfully, another guest showed us the terrace, where we could cool off and get some water. The hostel has potential, so hopefully this was just part of recovering after covid.

My boyfriend and I had to find a hostel at the last minute in Puerto Ayora, and Ariana was a great choice. We were really happy with it. The owner, Gabriel, even cut open a couple of coconuts for us when we arrived, free of charge. The hostel was affordable and comfortable, with great AC, free filtered water, and a nice private bathroom. It was away from most traffic and noise but still within walking distance of good restaurants. The Wi-Fi was a little weak on the top floor and worked better on the second. Other than that, it was perfect. Highly recommend.

The owners were very informative, and the breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean and comfortable. It’s a lovely private place to stay, and I’d happily come back.

A nice room and good breakfast, but it’s far from the touristy part of town. A good hotel if you know what to expect.
