Hospedaje Darwin B&B

A nice family hostel with helpful, friendly staff. They didn’t have an organized luggage room, but let me leave my bag for three days instead of taking it to the other island and back. They moved it from the room where I’d left it and kept it safe in their office.

The family-run place is in a really handy spot. Cheap $5USD restaurants, a supermarket with ATMS, the waterfront and tour agencies are all within a 5-minute walk. The town feels very safe on foot. You can catch the airport shuttle (canal) at the waterfront every 30 minutes before 9pm. The daughter speaks English well, though the parents less so, and the staff were friendly and helpful. My room was basic but worked fine, though a little rough. The bed and pillows were comfortable, a towel was included, and there was A/C. The shower was warm, but temperamental and often not hot. You get keys for the room and front gate. Ask for a receipt when paying. There’s free coffee, tea and sugar, but no milk or creamer. The kitchen is closed for the family’s use, though there’s a fridge for small items. Indoor dining seats are available, plus outdoor ones when it’s dry. Street noise can carry in, and there are only shade curtains, no regular curtains. At night, walk to the lit-up pier and you might see reef sharks, stingrays, seals, puffer fish, and maybe a nurse shark or a turtle.

For a hostal, this place was a real favorite. The room was clean, the price was amazing, and the location was even better. The owners were fantastic, super welcoming, and spoke excellent English. Best wifi I found in the Galapagos.

I stayed one night and rain came into the room, soaking my things. When we told the owner, he didn’t seem to care. The beds were really small and it was very dirty underneath them. A really bad experience, wouldn’t recommend it.
