Hotel Palmeras

The convenient location was the only real plus. The room smelled moldy, and the shower door was broken and covered in mold. WiFi was very weak, hot water came and went, breakfast wasn't good, and the pool wasn't appealing. We also woke up to drilling before 7 a.m. and kids screaming. Don't expect much from this place.

We were very pleased with our clean, roomy space, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool was a real bonus. The hotel is right in Puerto Ayora, so you can walk everywhere, and the price was reasonable, especially as a walk-in. They have lots of rooms, so one was usually available. We'd come back.

The staff were friendly and welcoming to foreigners. Rooms have a quaint feel, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the hotel restaurant were included. There's a private pool, free WiFi, and plenty of local attractions nearby. The WiFi gets much weaker the farther you are from the front desk.

The room and facilities were dirty, and the breakfast was terrible. There was dirt inside the built-in closet, the sink was grimy, and the toilet didn't look clean. The mattress was hard, the sheets were too small, and the music and radio were much too loud at the 7:30 a.m. breakfast. I couldn't ask a simple question because nobody spoke English. There were 50 or more kids on vacation, running around, screaming, and slamming doors late at night and early in the morning, with no adult supervision. We couldn't use the pool for two days because of them, and it was closed for cleaning the night we arrived. I nearly broke my neck twice on the step up to the sink and toilet. I'm not a princess, and I've traveled around the world with a backpack and sleeping bag, but this was the worst place I've ever stayed. I'm sure one of the many hostels would have done a better job.
