Maytenus Galapagos

Loved the outdoor seating area. The studio itself was roomy, comfortable, clean, and really quiet.

There was loads of space inside, and everything was super clean. We didn't have any bug problems indoors, though you'll want bug spray for breakfast on the patio. The owner speaks English and was very accommodating, asking when we'd like breakfast and bringing it out in the morning. It's less than half a mile to the downtown area, I think, so the walk is short. The WiFi was patchy, but we were surprised to have any at all on an island.

Patricia was the real highlight of our stay. She was kind and did everything she could to help. We asked for a blender and sugar, and she brought both. She also gave us tour advice every day, drawing on her years working for the National Park. During our eight nights, she cleaned the room thoroughly twice. Laundry and drying were quick and free, and she even let us check out late at no charge. The room was spacious, with a fridge that's bigger than the listing's "mini" description suggests. The bed was very wide and comfortable, the pictures were lovely, and the yard plants were beautiful. The air conditioning worked perfectly and cooled the room to 20°C. It was quiet and well kept, and at 45 USD a night plus Airbnb fees, this was easily the best value for money in Puerto Ayora for us. There weren't many drawbacks. The kitchen was small, which made cooking a little difficult, and the jacuzzi was closed, probably because of Covid. It's a bit far from the center, so we rented bikes and got there quickly that way. Patricia was sometimes late with breakfast. I'm mentioning these mostly for completeness, so you know it's a real review. It was an amazing stay.

My parents-in-law had a great time during their visit. The place was clean, nice, and affordable, with plenty of room to lounge, a small kitchen, a comfortable living room, and a great bedroom. It's also close to the beach and downtown. I fully recommend staying here, just make your booking well in advance. Congratulations!
