Hotel Blue Marlin

For the price, this fell short of what we expected. The location is good, and the communal area is nicely arranged for relaxing during the day, when possible. Breakfast was okay, nothing special, but it did the job. The water fountain was repeatedly empty. When we told the owner, he said more would come the next day, even though there's a shop right next door, then offered to sell us water. Reception was often unattended, and the poor sound insulation meant building work woke us at 7:30am on our only planned lie-in day. No one had told us construction was happening. On Sunday, the owner's family and friends took over the pool and lounge, making the common area feel like a kids' day care. That might have been easier to accept at a less expensive hotel. The owner's family also regularly used the hot tub in the evenings. Rooms were basic: no fridge, unlike every other hotel on our trip, a TV that didn't work, and nowhere to dry wet clothes or gear, despite so many activities involving water.

A pretty courtyard and pool area, a spacious room, and a nice, clean hotel. Breakfast was good, though other guests coming and going could make it noisy. The WiFi wasn't great. It's only a few blocks from the main pier and tourist area, about a 5-10 minute walk.

The rooms look nice and seem to have been redone recently, but room 16 is one to avoid. It's right by the stairs, and the window has no shade, so the light and noise from the stairway made it really hard to sleep. Breakfast is served rather than set out as a buffet, and you get what you get. The food was okay, but choices were limited.

Access to the first-floor rooms feels dangerous after rain. There's a patched glass walkway that looks like it could give way, and the stairs are slippery. Breakfast was terrible, with no choice: eat what's served or go hungry. The stern-faced owner seems interested only in profit, pushing people to buy bottled water instead of refilling the large shared bottle.
