We first stayed at Casa San Marcos for four nights over New Year, and it was a fabulous visit. After another trip to the Galagasos Oslands, we liked it enough to choose it again. Pierina, one of the managers, met us at the airport after we arranged a car. She had a sign with my name and a welcoming smile, which put us at ease after the 12 hour journey to Equador. She chatted with is during the roughly 45 minute drive, and David, the other manager and Pierina's husband, greeted us when we arrived. The small hotel is spread across four floors and is stunning inside. Our room matched the online photos, and even though it was on the lower level, we could see the "The Virgin of Quito" statue from the bathroom. We were near the breakfast area and a cute little chapel. The hallways and stairs are packed with antiquities and artifacts, so there’s a lot to take in. Clara served a lovely breakfast each morning with fresh fruit, juice, eggs and breads. Pierina and David explained what to expect for New Year’s Eve, and the adventure was BONKERS, the most fun I’ve had in ages. The team made us feel like family, and I’d recommend the hotel and the people running it to anyone. Gracis all!

I stayed in November 2022, and they keep taking down my review. The hotel was deserted, and the staff were dishonest, trying to charge me twice. We left early because the owner seemed unhinged and we were afraid for our safety. The rooms were freezing, there was no hot water, and we were often locked inside with no staff around to open the main door. There were bugs in the beds, the rooms were dusty and dirty, exposed wiring was everywhere, and the shower leaked. We were the only guests there. I don’t know what they pay to keep a five star rating, but this place is a two at best.

Set on a quiet street in Quito’s historic old city, this place has loads of personality. It’s a great place to stay in the UNESCO site. Don’t come expecting the fanciest, most modern place, though that seems beside the point in the Old City. You’re within a

The beautiful room had a lovely view and its own balcony, and the lounge and breakfast room were beautifully decorated too. Breakfast was perfect. We really enjoyed our first nights in Ecuador at Casa San Marcos, thanks to Daniele, who made us feel welcome and helped with check in and local activities.

On my solo trip, the manager herself showed me around town, and the staff also helped me through a personal situation. They were a real pleasure to stay with, and I’d recommend this home like place to anyone looking for a nice stay in Quito. It’s a brilliant little boutique property in a superb location, with excellent staff and service that went above and beyond.
