Hostal Sakti

This is my second stay in two months, and I wish I could stay longer. I travel a lot, and just having a clean, comfortable bed isn’t enough for me. I want somewhere that feels like home, and the owners have clearly put a lot of love into making this hostel warm and welcoming. It’s a charming spot in my favorite barrio. And the breakfast is the best way I can imagine starting the day.

The owners are so kind and caring, and the food has been tasty and nourishing. My room is cosy and clean. After a stressful day of travelling, arriving at Sakti made me feel relaxed, safe, and welcome. I’ve felt completely at home here and had a wonderful stay. I’d highly recommend it to anyone coming to Quito.

We arrived early in the morning and were given a lovely breakfast. After five days here, they even packed breakfast for us on the day we flew out. The food is amazing, and I’ve never had vegetarian food this good. The room was very clean, and the beds and pillows were comfortable. We had two heavy wool blankets, which were great. Ecuador is humid, so it can feel very cold indoors, colder than outside, and that seemed to be the case everywhere. I was glad I had full flannel pajamas. Bring a heater and an electric blanket if you can, plus rubber-soled slippers. The showers in Ecuador are weird. There’s a drain in the shower and another in the middle of the bathroom floor, with no threshold to keep water in the shower area. Water runs out toward the main drain, leaving much of the bathroom floor wet. Our bathroom floor was very clean, and they provided plenty of towels and replaced them daily. I’d stay there again.

The owners are really nice, and the price is very reasonable. Breakfast is included and superb. I’ve stayed in four different rooms, and each was clean, cozy, and nicely decorated and furnished. It’s my favorite place to stay in Quito, with a really nice energy.
