Hotel Juana De Arco

The lobby and floors had a beautiful interior, but everything else was awful. Our room’s walls were dirty, and street noise kept my husband and me awake all night.

I’ve been very satisfied for the price, especially with the central location. The building is clean and old, with a Spanish-style interior. Carrying bags up to the third floor is inconvenient, though.

I left without checking in because I didn’t feel safe or welcome. The person who called himself the “manager” got aggressive and started shouting when I asked about safety and whether other hotel guests were there. I don’t believe he was actually the manager, despite his claim. He even called me gringo. The lobby also smelled strongly of pee. I’ve never had such a rude experience in a hotel or hostel. The real management should teach the staff better, especially in hospitality. This was ridiculous. There are better places nearby with friendlier staff and a more secure feeling. Go somewhere else.

This is budget accommodation, so don’t expect a full-service hotel. I stayed for a month, and the staff and location made the experience much better for me. I can recommend it to tourists visiting Quito. Hostal Juana De Arco has plenty to explore around it, with a nearby commercial street for basics and several fast-food places. Locals live and shop there. It was a terrific experience for me.
